Different levels required
Would you like to find a bilingual position in the health care field, but you wonder if your French is good enough?
If the answer is yes, don’t worry, nobody expects perfect French! Moreover, different levels of French (beginner, intermediate) are required depending on the position you will occupy. For example, a position that requires discussions with patients could require a higher level of French than what is required for certain administrative positions.
Relax, your French is probably okay! Employers will discuss this with you… It’s part of getting to know you!
Training offered
There is a significant shortage of bilingual health care workers in Manitoba. At the same time, it is essential that the personnel at health care establishments, regional health offices and bilingual social service agencies offer French language services to their clientele. Therefore, every effort will be made to encourage you to speak in French.
You will be offered various training courses if you want to improve your level of French as you go.
Where to learn
Through Université de Saint-Boniface, Santé en français offers language training at minimal cost. Several options exist depending on your language learning needs!
Several other organizations, for example the Alliance Française, also offer advanced training in French.
